Advantages of Synthetic Running Tracks & Drainage System Design

Part 1: Advantages of Synthetic Running Tracks

  • Spike Resistance
Resistant to damage from spiked shoes at high-use sprint areas.

  • Impact Resistance
Multi-layer elastic structure absorbs strong impacts without surface damage.

  • Flatness
    Self-leveling construction ensures a professional-grade smooth surface.

  • Adhesion
Strong bonding prevents bubbling and delamination.

  • Safety
    Minimizes injury risks from falls.

  • Cost Efficiency
Easy maintenance and reduced management costs.

  • Color & Environmental Performance
Made with EPDM and PU granules; offers soft colors, anti-glare properties, durability, and eco-friendly performance without harmful emissions.

Part 2: Importance of Base Construction

Installing a synthetic running track is a systematic engineering project. A high-quality surface depends on a qualified foundation and a well-designed drainage system.

Foundation Requirements

  • Materials: asphalt concrete or cement concrete

  • Must provide sufficient strength and stability

  • No cracking or frost heave deformation

  • Flatness tolerance: ≤ 3 mm within 3 meters

  • Drainage slope: 3‰–8‰

  • Surface must be clean and dry

  • Curing period: ≥ 28 days (with proper watering for cement in the first week)

  • No defects such as dusting, peeling, hollowing, or visible roller marks

Part 3: Drainage System Design Considerations

  • Must comply with national standards for track drainage systems

  • Sedimentation pits every 20–30 meters

  • Drain covers designed with single or double openings, securely installed

  • Even spacing (~10 mm) between covers with cement mortar finishing

  • Waterproof mortar applied to inner walls

  • Inspection covers must be stable and easy to open

  • Backfill compaction ≥ 95% to prevent settlement and deformation

  • Water supply systems (if included) must be securely installed and insulated in cold regions

  • Height difference between drain covers and adjacent surfaces ≤ 2 mm

  • Ensure proper slope for smooth drainage
